Simi Valley, CA Concrete Disciples held another Deathrace out at Skatelab in Simi Valley this past Saturday. As usual, when there is an event being played out at Skatelab, the bowl is always getting a lot of action. I shot a few photos at the bowl and then wandered over to watch the deathrace get started. By watching the deatrace and the wall ride, it sure did look like it helped out to be a local there. Matt Boyster, local wonder, ended up sweeping all events. Qualifying for the pro deathrace by winning the AM deathrace, he stormed the pro final and took the top spot. After the deathrace finals, everyone headed over to the front section of the lab and got ready for the wall ride challenge. Right off the bat, you could tell that Matt was the one to beat. Most of the field wasn't used to the small tranny, but the locals ripped it from the get go. Corey Phillips put in some good effort as well as Lance Newton, but none could touch Matt. Coming off the quarterpipe, Matt pulled ollies, shove-its and a frontside alley-oop to rafter grab. To no one's surprise, Matt claimed victory again. I packed it up and headed home before the best trick contest in the bowl, but official results had Matt Boyster at the top of the list. Big props go out to Jeff, MRZ and Christian for putting on another great contest. And thanks to Skatelab for hosting the whole thing. See you at the next CD gathering. |
